Stephen Chow was the only boy of his family, and has grown up as a Bruce Lee fan and a martial arts addict. His career started on TV, where he presented a children show ( "430 Space Shuttle" (1983)) and started becoming popular.

Trivia

When he was young, Chow learned kung-fu by watching TV because his parents couldn't afford lessons. He still enjoys watching instructional Kung Fu videos to this day. Chow learned Wing Chun as a youth, and is himself a huge fan of Chinese Kung Fu legend Bruce Lee, and his films often contain direct references to him. Chow was, for a time, the president of the Bruce Lee fan club in Hong Kong and had a statue of Lee built.
Parents divorced when he was young and he Grew up in Hong Kong.
Quentin Tarantino calls him "the best actor in Hong Kong.".
His favorite director is Steven Spielberg.
There is often a cameo by an ugly bearded nose-picking cross-dresser in his films, and the role is almost always portrayed by Kin Yan-Lee, a personal friend. This character is almost always called 如花 (literally means "Like a Flower") in these films.
Chow often collaborated with Lee Lik-Chee and Vincent Kok, both actors and directors, in the early stage of his career.
Despite having a comic persona onscreen, Chow is known to be the opposite in the public eye, often maintaining a quiet and serious demeanor.
Chow is also a big fan of the popular anime and manga series, Dragon Ball
His total net worth as of 2006 is over 100 million USD, he gains most of his wealth through real estate. He is a good friend of Hong Kong billionaire Joseph Lau.

Chow, as in many of his other films, stars as Sing, a mainland country boy hoping to earn a living in Hong Kong. Upon reaching Hong Kong, he finds his luggage stolen, but soon becomes fast friends with the thief, Smart. Together, they try to improve their financial situation through various odd jobs, until Smart discovers Sing's special ability, his extremely strong right arm, and then convinces him to enter a martial arts tournament in the hopes of winning the prize money. The two soon learn that they need to be registered with a school in order to compete.

Chow and Mo go to the same house to rob it by trying to draw the occupants out of the home with free tickets. Wu has beforehand lured away the maids from the house. But chaos breaks loose as they confuse each other with a relative of the occupant and the occupant respectively. Each thinking the other has money, they keep on trying to scam each other here and there.
